HYMISKVIŠA 25

25. Óteitr jötunn,
er žeir aptr reru,
svį at įr Hymir
ekki męlti,
veifši hann ręši
vešrs annars til.

Hymir was annoyed, when they started rowing back; the giant was silent at his oar, and swung the rudder about.

1. Óteitr jötunn - the copula is missing, cp. stanza 1 (sumblsamir).

6. vešrs annars, literally "another wind" - i.e. another direction.

Translation notes: Bray's "then anew he turned the tiller of thought" is, of course, impossible, but surprisingly imitated by Terry: "then he tried another tack".
